Fakirchand College, West Bengal chooses L2C2 Technologies’ cloud hosting services for their OPAC.

We are happy to extend a warm welcome to our newest client-partner Fakir Chand College, located in Diamond Harbour, West Bengal. The library has a collection of more than 52,191 volumes. The library is divided into three broad sections – the UG, PG and the B.Ed sections.

About the college

Established in 1948, it is the oldest and largest college in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Affiliated to the University of Calcutta, the college is named after Sri Fakir Chand Halder, the father of founder Sri Jagadish Chandra Haldar, a local businessman. It offers undergraduate courses in liberal arts, science and commerce, a teacher training course as well as a few post-graduate programs. The college is located at Diamond Harbours in the southern suburbs of Kolkata, on the eastern banks of the Hooghly River quite near where the river meets the Bay of Bengal. [1][2][3]

About Gouri Devi Institute of Medical Science and Hospital

Gouri Devi Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Durgapur is a Medical College with ultra-modern 300-bed hospital setup by Rahul Foundation under the visionary stewardship of Mr. R. N. Majumdar. GIMSH welcomes new admission of 150 M.B.B.S. students in the academic session of 2016-17. The medical school comprises of 21 departments with experienced faculty members with extensive facilities that include well equipped classrooms, laboratories, an air conditioned library etc. The hospital is having all the clinical departments like General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology (Eye), Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OBG), Dermatology, Pulmonology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Dental etc. including a full-fledged emergency & trauma care center. About the Library

The library is located on the 2nd floor of the college building with 1827 sq. m. of floor area that consists of the Stack room, Journal section, air-conditioned Students reading room, Staff reading room, Internet MEDLARS room, Audio-visual unit, Reprography room, Circulation counter, rooms for the Librarian and other staff, Daftaries and Book binders, Skill lab etc.

About Sammilani Mahavidyalaya

Established in 1996, Sammilani Mahavidyalaya is located in Baghajatin on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, Kolkata. Initially the college started functioning from a local secondary school, Santoshpur Vidyamandir (Boys) and the classes were held in the evening. Within a record period of only seven months it’s new building was constructed and the college shifted to its present address. From a humble beginning with just 3 students, the college today caters to the educational need of nearly 2000 students spread across its Humanities, Science and Commerce departments. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.

West Goalpara College, Assam, chooses L2C2 Technologies’s hosted Koha platform with local support from Aditi Library Services.

We are happy to announce that Krishna Kanta Handique Central Library, West Goalpara College in the north eastern state of Assam have choosen to implement Koha ILS on our cloud service. They are currently hosted on the latest stable, packaged version of Koha i.e. 16.05.04. The local support will be provided by M/s Aditi Library Services – a known name among libraries in the North East.

About West Goalpara College

Setup in 1981, the college is located at Balarbhita, in the Goalpara district of Assam. Affiliated with Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, in the last 35 years, the college has served the higher education needs of over 70,000 students. The college’s central library is named after Padma Bhusan Sri Krishnakanta Handique (also spelt as Handiqui), a great scholar and educationist who also served as the founder Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University. The library was established in 1987 and was inaugurated by Shri Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, then Chief Minister of Assam. The library has a collection of over 20,000 books covering various subjects as well as collections of journals, magazines and newspapers. Aside from the central library, the individual departments have their own departmental libraries for reference service. It is supported by Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India.

Acknowledgements

Special mention has to made of Sri Hirak Jyoti Hazarika who was instrumental for bringing Koha ILS to the college. Sri Hazarika has since registered for PhD at NEHU (North East Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya). We wish him every success in life.

About Rishi Bankim Chandra College for Women

Named after Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay – the father of the Bengali novel and the author of India’s national song “Vande Mataram”, the college is located at East Kanthalpara in modern day Naihati, the birth place of Bankim Chandra. Functioning as an undergraduate degree college affiliated to West Bengal State University (Barasat), the college has a long history. It began in 1947, the year of Indian Independence, as Rishi Bankim Chandra College. In 1964 a morning section for female students was added, which in 1984 was re-christened as “Rishi Bankim Chandra College for Women”.

Raja Rammohun Roy Mahavidyalaya Library, Radhanagar, Hooghly in West Bengal chooses L2C2 Technologies’ cloud hosting services for their OPAC.

About Raja Rammohan Roy Mahavidyalaya

Situated at Radhanagar, Hooghly, Raja Rammohun Roy Mahavidyalaya has a special importance of its own for Radhanagar is the birthplace of the Pioneer of Bengal Renaissance, Bharat Pathik Raja Rammohan Roy. His crusade against the cruel custom of Suttee started from this very place where her sister-in-law was burnt to death. The college, named after this great soul and the doyen of New Bengal was founded in 1964 by Sri Shantimohan Roy, the great freedom fighter and the social worker. In the year 1972 it was recognized as Govt. sponsored college.[1] It is affiliated to University of Burdwan.[2]

Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan Library partners with L2C2 Technologies to take their catalogue online

We are happy to extend a warm welcome to our newest client-partner Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan (RKSMVV). The college has been a long-time Koha user, having started in 2011. We are happy to note that their entire physical collection of books have been catalogued into Koha and soon we’ll be updating the OPAC with their up-to-date MARC21 data.

Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan is a partly residential degree college for women affiliated with the West Bengal State University, India. Colloquially more commonly known as “Sarada Mission College” or simply as “Sarada College”, it was the first educational institution started by Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. It came into existence in 1961 as an effort to carry out Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of education among women. Supporting Kerala Library Assn’s new open access journal KJIST

I’m happy to announce that L2C2 Technologies will be working together with Kerala Library Association (KLA), India, for the next 5 years for online publishing, hosting and support of KLA’s new open access biannual journal – KLA Journal of Library & Information Technology (https://www.kjist.in/index.php/kjist). The first issue will be published in Jan 2017. The publishing platform is based on the open source OpenJournalSystem from Public Knowledge Project. ‪#‎OJS‬ ‪#‎KLA‬
