L2C2 Technologies extends technological support to KLA for open access journal

L2C2 Technologies to provide OJS software hosting and maintenance along with publishing support to Kerala Library Association for KJIST for the next 5 years.

Earlier today the first open access (OA) LIS journal from Kerala, India – “The Kerala Library Association Journal of Information Science & Technology” (KJIST) was launched with the release of its inaugural issue – Vol. 1 No. 1 July 2018 by Dr. Rajan Gurukkal (Vice Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council) at the DLIS Hall, Kerala University Library Building, Thiruvananthapuram.

As the first open access LIS journal being published from Kerala, all articles published in KJIST will be available online at https://www.kjist.in for reading and download. As the technology support partner L2C2 Technologies is providing the journal publishing software hosting & maintenance along with publishing support to Kerala Library Association for KJIST, initially for a period of 5 years. The journal is being hosted using the latest stable version of Open Journal Systems (OJS) journal publishing platform.

While readers are not required to register at the site to read the articles, registered users will receive automatic updates about articles and issues as and when they are published. The privacy policy is GDPR compliant and all personal data submitted by the readers, authors, reviewers and editors are maintained on servers geographically located in India. Mandatory SSL has been implemented for the site, so that when users interact with the site, e.g. when they login or read or download articles, all their transactions remain securely encrypted end-to-end at all times. L2C2 Technologies will also be providing KLA with in-depth usage statistics and data analytics for the online Journal site.

About KJIST

KLA Journal of Information Science and Technology (KJIST) is published twice every year (January and July) in open access (OA) and print formats. It will include original papers, short communications, book reviews and letters pertaining to library science, information science and related fields. The papers included will focus on aspects of exploring, applying, and evaluating new theories and ideas to develop and modernize libraries and enhance library services. It is meant for library professionals, documentation and information professionals, researchers, students and others interested in the library and information science field.

Chinmaya University partners with L2C2 Technologies for Koha support

Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan moves to L2C2’s cloud based Koha platform

We are happy to announce that after nearly 2 years of being an L2C2 Technologies client-partner Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhaban (RKSMVV) have decided to move entirely to L2C2’s cloud based Koha hosting platform from the academic session of 2018-19. The college had so far hosted their OPAC with us while running their day to day operations on a local system running a very old Koha 3.08.4. This is a major jump from them since they will by upgrading directly to 17.11 (the latest stable version of Koha) from a version that is nearly 6 years old.

Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan is a partly residential degree college for women affiliated with the West Bengal State University, India. Colloquially more commonly known as “Sarada Mission College” or simply as “Sarada College”, it was the first educational institution started by Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. New and improved SLA management from L2C2 Technologies

Adding weekly SLA Management Reports for our hosted accounts of Koha ILS.

Starting this January, on every Monday (first day of the week for us) we will be mailing out weekly service level management reports and updates to our hosted Koha ILS client partners. We already have phone calls and the online support helpdesk covered and are now trying to figure out how to manage the instant messaging requests via Whatsapp, Telegram, Twitter and FB Messanger etc.

While the LIS professionals working with us from our client partners’ side already know where they stand with their SLA status, often the management is not fully aware of the work being done. With this new initiative we hope for greater transparency in our communication with our clients. Enclosed below are sample of these reports with the contact details reducted.

Koha ILS workshop at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, Feb 5 – 9, 2018.

The ICAR – National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) is organizing a training programme on Koha for library staff of ICAR during February 5-9, 2018. Dr. S.K. Soam, Head, ICM Division, NAARM and Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, Principal Scientist are the programme directors for this training. They are expecting about 35 librarians to participate from various ICAR institutes in this training programme

The National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) is a national-level research center located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1976, to address issues related to agricultural research and education management, in India. In the initial years, the Academy primarily imparted foundation training to the new entrants of the Agricultural Research Service of ICAR.

Subsequently, its role expanded to include research, capacity building of senior professionals of national and international NARS in agricultural research and education management, and policy and consultancy support to NARS. DCB & BI Library, University of Kerala chooses L2C2 Technologies’ Koha hosting service

DCB & BI Library, University of Kerala goes online with Koha Integrated Library System.

We are pleased to welcome the Department of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Kerala as our newest client-partner from “God’s own country” aka Kerala – the southern most state of India. Earlier the library was running Koha 3.22 on an in-house (on campus) server. With this move, they are now fully hosted on the cloud and are running on the latest major stable version of Koha i.e. on 16.11.x series.

About DCB & BI

The Centre for Bioinformatics, established in 2005 and upgraded as the Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in 2011, is a new generation inter-disciplinary as well as multidisciplinary teaching & research Department of University of Kerala, India. The centre offers a two-year innovative MSc (Computational Biology) programme and also 2 one-year MPhil programmes in (i) Bioinformatics (ii) Computer Aided Drug Design. The Department has researchers with vivid backgrounds (Electrical Engineers, Mathematicians, Physicists, Biotechnologists, Botanists, Bio-chemists, Computer scientists are some of them). The Department has its own premises with state of the art informatics laboratory and also a molecular biology and bio-electronics laboratory which provide a balanced training to multidisciplinary talents that the centre attracts. The Department library having a stock of over 2425 specialized books.

The Director is Dr. Achuthsankar S. Nair, who has lead the department since its inception and presently has 6 lecturers, an Emeritus Professor (Dr. Oommen V. Oommen), one Post Doctoral Fellow, half a dozen Project Fellows, 19 full-time research scholars and at any time, 30-40 masters students. The Department also has 2 adjunct Professors, in addition to visiting faculty and Erudite visitors [Prof. Dr. Johann Deisenhofer (Nobel Laureate – 1988) visited the Department on Dec 1-3, 2010, Prof. Martin Chalfie (Nobel Laureate-2008) visited on Jan 5-7, 2011, followed by Prof. Anders Liljas (Nobel Prize Committee Member) on Jan 20-26, 2011.

The Department is situated in the beautiful and green Kariavattom Campus made greener by the department’s “Trees for 2100 AD” initiative.

Established in 1948, it is the oldest and largest college in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Affiliated to the University of Calcutta, the college is named after Sri Fakir Chand Halder, the father of founder Sri Jagadish Chandra Haldar, a local businessman. About Sammilani Mahavidyalaya

Established in 1996, Sammilani Mahavidyalaya is located in Baghajatin on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, Kolkata. Initially the college started functioning from a local secondary school, Santoshpur Vidyamandir (Boys) and the classes were held in the evening. Within a record period of only seven months it’s new building was constructed and the college shifted to its present address. From a humble beginning with just 3 students, the college today caters to the educational need of nearly 2000 students spread across its Humanities, Science and Commerce departments.
