About Bangiya Sahitya Parishat
Originally founded on 23 July, 1893 as the “Bengal Academy of Literature” literary society, the institution renamed itself as “Bangiya Sahitya Parishat” in 1894 with Romesh Chunder Dutt as it’s first president and Rabindranath Tagore and Navinchandra Sen as vice presidents. With the study and development of the Bengali language and literature as its main objective, the society has over the years, has delved into the cultural, historical, archaeological, sociological and other scientific studies and researches with special reference to Bengal. The society moved into its present address in 1908. The land the building stands on was donated by Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandy of Cossimbazar Raj. In 1997, Kolkata Municipal Corporation notified the building as a Grade-I heritage building.
About the library
Established in 1894, the Bangiya Sahitya Parishat Library was the brainchild of Archarya Ramendra Sundar Tribedi. From its early beginning with a handful of donated books and periodicals, the library today in its collection has 1,01,719 books and 17,558 journals. The collection includes very rare and valuable books as well as many rare 19th century periodicals in Bengali and English such as ‘Digdarshan’, ‘Samachar Darpan’, ‘Samachar Chandrika’, ‘Friend of India’ etc.  The library has several important collections, the most important highlight being the “Vidyasagar Collection” donated by the erstwhile Maharajah of Lalgola. Given the richness of its collections, the library attracts readers and researchers from both India and abroad.

About Nirmala College
Established in 1953, Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha is a first-grade college affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It is a minority Christian institution governed and managed by the Corporate Educational Agency, Syrian Catholic Diocese of Kothamangalam. In strict compliance with the vision of the founding fathers, the college has served the community, irrespective of caste, creed and colour and has contributed to the world quite large a number of value-based Nirmalites. Her performance in academic and non-academic activities has been acknowledged by the NIRF rankings 2017 in the form of its position on the 91st among the list of colleges in the country. In addition, the college has been bestowed with the prestigious ‘Star College’ status by the Department of Bio-Technology (DBT), Government of India, in recognition of the advancements made by the college in the field of science education, with a handsome financial grant. Earlier today the first open access (OA) LIS journal from Kerala, India – “The Kerala Library Association Journal of Information Science & Technology” (KJIST) was launched with the release of its inaugural issue – Vol. 1 No. 1 July 2018 by Dr. Rajan Gurukkal (Vice Chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council) at the DLIS Hall, Kerala University Library Building, Thiruvananthapuram.
As the first open access LIS journal being published from Kerala, all articles published in KJIST will be available online at https://www.kjist.in for reading and download. As the technology support partner L2C2 Technologies is providing the journal publishing software hosting & maintenance along with publishing support to Kerala Library Association for KJIST, initially for a period of 5 years. The journal is being hosted using the latest stable version of Open Journal Systems (OJS) journal publishing platform.
KLA Journal of Information Science and Technology (KJIST) is published twice every year (January and July) in open access (OA) and print formats. It will include original papers, short communications, book reviews and letters pertaining to library science, information science and related fields. The papers included will focus on aspects of exploring, applying, and evaluating new theories and ideas to develop and modernize libraries and enhance library services. It is meant for library professionals, documentation and information professionals, researchers, students and others interested in the library and information science field.

About Surendranath Law College
Surendranath Law College formerly known as Ripon College) is an undergraduate law college affiliated with the University of Calcutta in Kolkata, India. It was established in 1885 by a trust formed by the nationalist leader, scholar and educationist Surendranath Banerjee, a year after he founded Surendranath College. This is now regarded one of the oldest Law college of the country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of the Republic of India is among the several notable alumni of the college.
We are happy to announce that after nearly 2 years of being an L2C2 Technologies client-partner Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhaban (RKSMVV) have decided to move entirely to L2C2’s cloud based Koha hosting platform from the academic session of 2018-19. The college had so far hosted their OPAC with us while running their day to day operations on a local system running a very old Koha 3.08.4. This is a major jump from them since they will by upgrading directly to 17.11 (the latest stable version of Koha) from a version that is nearly 6 years old.
Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan is a partly residential degree college for women affiliated with the West Bengal State University, India. Colloquially more commonly known as “Sarada Mission College” or simply as “Sarada College”, it was the first educational institution started by Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. It came into existence in 1961 as an effort to carry out Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of education among women. Housed initially in a one-roomed makeshift structure, with thirty one students and a handful of young, idealistic and enthusiastic teachers and monastic members, the college today stands among the premier women’s institutions of the state with an ‘A’ Level by National Assessment and Accreditation Council

Starting this January, on every Monday (first day of the week for us) we will be mailing out weekly service level management reports and updates to our hosted Koha ILS client partners. We already have phone calls and the online support helpdesk covered and are now trying to figure out how to manage the instant messaging requests via Whatsapp, Telegram, Twitter and FB Messanger etc.
While the LIS professionals working with us from our client partners’ side already know where they stand with their SLA status, often the management is not fully aware of the work being done. With this new initiative we hope for greater transparency in our communication with our clients. Enclosed below are sample of these reports with the contact details reducted.

The ICAR – National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) is organizing a training programme on Koha for library staff of ICAR during February 5-9, 2018. Dr. S.K. Soam, Head, ICM Division, NAARM and Dr. N. Srinivasa Rao, Principal Scientist are the programme directors for this training. They are expecting about 35 librarians to participate from various ICAR institutes in this training programme
About ICAR NAARM
The National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) is a national-level research center located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1976, to address issues related to agricultural research and education management, in India. In the initial years, the Academy primarily imparted foundation training to the new entrants of the Agricultural Research Service of ICAR.
Subsequently, its role expanded to include research, capacity building of senior professionals of national and international NARS in agricultural research and education management, and policy and consultancy support to NARS. The Academy also renders services for building IP portfolios like patents and geographical indications to various stakeholders including farmers and scientists.

DCB & BI Library, University of Kerala goes online with Koha Integrated Library System.
We are pleased to welcome the Department of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Kerala as our newest client-partner from “God’s own country” aka Kerala – the southern most state of India. Earlier the library was running Koha 3.22 on an in-house (on campus) server. With this move, they are now fully hosted on the cloud and are running on the latest major stable version of Koha i.e. on 16.11.x series.
About DCB & BI
The Centre for Bioinformatics, established in 2005 and upgraded as the Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in 2011, is a new generation inter-disciplinary as well as multidisciplinary teaching & research Department of University of Kerala, India. The centre offers a two-year innovative MSc (Computational Biology) programme and also 2 one-year MPhil programmes in (i) Bioinformatics (ii) Computer Aided Drug Design. The Department has researchers with vivid backgrounds (Electrical Engineers, Mathematicians, Physicists, Biotechnologists, Botanists, Bio-chemists, Computer scientists are some of them). The Department has its own premises with state of the art informatics laboratory and also a molecular biology and bio-electronics laboratory which provide a balanced training to multidisciplinary talents that the centre attracts. The Department library having a stock of over 2425 specialized books.
The Director is Dr. Achuthsankar S. Nair, who has lead the department since its inception and presently has 6 lecturers, an Emeritus Professor (Dr. Oommen V. Oommen), one Post Doctoral Fellow, half a dozen Project Fellows, 19 full-time research scholars and at any time, 30-40 masters students. The Department also has 2 adjunct Professors, in addition to visiting faculty and Erudite visitors [Prof. Dr. Johann Deisenhofer (Nobel Laureate – 1988) visited the Department on Dec 1-3, 2010, Prof. Martin Chalfie (Nobel Laureate-2008) visited on Jan 5-7, 2011, followed by Prof. Anders Liljas (Nobel Prize Committee Member) on Jan 20-26, 2011.
The Department is situated in the beautiful and green Kariavattom Campus made greener by the department’s “Trees for 2100 AD” initiative.
